We ended our year with a final school wide outdoor story walk experience. We shared the story, Otter Doesn’t Know. The story is set in Coast Salish Traditional Territory and the author, Andrea Fritz, uses Indigenous storytelling techniques and art to share the culture and language of the Hul’q’umi’num speaking peoples. Students learned words in Hul’q’umi’num as they read the story about a salmon and sea otter who learn it’s okay to say ‘I don’t know’ and ask for help.
